Domaine Houchart Cotes de Provence Rosé
Domaine Houchart, located at the foot of Mont St. Victoire near Aix en Provence, was founded by Aurelien Houchart in the 1850s. It is now owned by Aurelien’s great-granddaugther Genevieve. The domaine is in the heart of the Côtes de Provence appellation, and the soils are poor and well-drained, formed of limestone and clay sandstone. The grapes ripen later than in the rest of the Côtes de Provence appellation, which gives the wines a characteristic freshness. This rosé is a classic Provence style blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mourvedre. It has notes of ripe red fruit, peach and grapefruit.
