Gramercy Cellars works almost exclusively with Rhone and Bordeaux varieties which are well-suited to the terroirs of Walla Walla as well as the greater Columbia Valley Appellations in Washington State. The wine-making philosophy is simple: work with top vineyard sites, harvest the fruit when it’s in balance and not overripe, intervene minimally, and use as little new oak as possible.

The resulting wines are restrained, balanced, and complex. They age well but also possess enough fruit to be rewarding when young. Lower East is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, from the Pepper Bridge, Phinny Hill, Gramercy Estate and Old Stones vineyards. The wine is aged in French oak, 26% new.
