Grosjean Torrette Petit Rouge 2020

The vineyards of Grosjean are high in the mountains of the Valle d'Aosta, beneath Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. The family has been long established in the region, raising cattle, and making wine for themselves. In 1969 they began to present their wines commercially and now farm 7 hectares of vineyards, several of which are considered 'cru' vineyard sites.

Torrette is a blend of Petite Rouge (80%) and 20% other indigenous varietals to the Valle d'Aosta. Fermentation and aging are both done in stainless steel tanks, aging is 8 months prior to release. This wine is unfined and lightly filtered. Petit Rouge is charming in it's youth but takes on more character with some bottle age. Buoyed by high acidity and snappy red fruit, the wine is balanced by notes of crushed rocks and earth that makes it a perfect pairing for traditional charcuterie.
