Brun began planting Chardonnay on his home estate in 1983, on sandy clay-limestone soils. He farms organically and harvests by hand. The grapes are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts and no added sulfur in concrete vats. Malolactic fermentation happens naturally, and the lees are stirred from time to time. The wine ages in steel and concrete and is bottled the spring after harvest, with light filtration and minimal sulfur. There is no oak. Brun’s approach is Burgundian rather than typical Beaujolais practice, built on minimal intervention and native yeasts. This Beaujolais Blanc shows notes of pear, white peach, lemon zest, and a hint of thyme, with a taut, chalky finish.
