Torre alle Tolfe Chianti Colli Senesi

$23.00

La Torre alle Tolfe traces its name back to the VIII century when Tolfo dei Gricci, one of Charlemagne’s knights, built a watchtower here for the defence of Siena. The first written records of winemaking on the estate date back to 1316.

The Castelli history on the estate dates to the 1950s when Luigi Castelli and his wife Lunella purchased the villa and surrounding properties and land. The children of their grandchildren, Mania and Giotto, now living on the estate represent the fourth generation to live here. The Chianti Colli Senesi ‘normale’ is 100% Sangiovese. Maceration lasted a month. Aged for one year in cement.   This is an overdelivering Sangiovese, with perfectly encapsulated fruit and just the right amount of supporting grip.
