Melissa Winkler, a dedicated sommelier and a WSET Level 4 wine educator with a deep-rooted love for wine, founded Winkler & Samuels Wine Shop in 2010. Her journey began in the vineyards of Europe, where she developed an appreciation for the intricate nuances of winemaking and the diverse flavors that the world of wine has to offer. Melissa's dream was to create a space where these passions could be shared with the community.

The name "Winkler & Samuels" pays homage to Melissa's family's rich history in Buffalo. In 1857, her family opened "Winkler & Sons," a beloved and enduring grocery store located at 750 Seneca Street. This store was not only the first but also the longest-standing family-owned grocery store in Buffalo, New York, serving the community for generations. The values of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to quality that were instilled in the family's grocery store have been carried forward into Winkler & Samuels Wine Shop.

With a Certified Sommelier qualification from the Court of Master Sommeliers, Melissa has honed her expertise and refined her palate to bring you the finest selection of wines available. She has also had the privilege of visiting some of the world's most renowned wine regions, including France, Italy, Spain, and Germany, gaining firsthand knowledge of the rich traditions and vibrant cultures that produce these exceptional wines.
