This wine is produced in Rui Robredo Madeira’s winery in Sar Joao da Pesqueira, from a selection of grapes from the best vineyards in the Upper Douro. Castello d’Alba was the first wine he launched in 2000, and Madeira has always wanted it to reflect his experiences and vision of a new Douro that combines cutting edge winemaking with native grape varieties. Aromas of red berries and spices reveal gentle maceration in order to preserve the typical notes of these grape varieties and make the wine ready for consumption after bottling. Sweet hints of rose, flowers, blackberries and spices add to the aromatic complexity. Very smooth on the palate with balanced acidity and fine tannins.
