Gabin et Felix Richoux Irancy Pinot Noir
The Richoux family have been growing grapes in the picturesque village of Irancy since 1610. Irancy is a northerly appellation in Burgundy, very close to Chablis. Tenth generation Thierry farms 20 hectares of kimmeridgian-centric vines that create a patchwork across the appellation. Long élévage is common practice as Richoux believes it helps to harmonize the wines while maintaining the purity and transparency of this unique terroir. This wine spends its first year in tank, and then a full second year in large foudres. The wines are certainly ‘northerly’ in spirit, leading with minerals and earth and followed by fruit and spice. They are lovely and fresh, but with the structure to age gracefully. This wine is certified organic.
