Masseria Setteporte Etna Rosso
Masseria Setteporte Etna Rosso is a refined volcanic red made from organically grown Nerello Mascalese 95% and Nerello Cappuccio 5% on the western slopes of Mount Etna. The estate is situated on the southwestern slopes of Mount Etna in the commune of Biancavilla, a unique sub-region known for its ancient, south-facing terraces. Unlike the more common northern slopes, this area features exposed soils from the Ellitico epoch that are particularly old, less fertile, and rich in red and black volcanic minerals. The vineyards are perched at high altitudes between 650 and 800 meters, where significant diurnal temperature shifts and cooling Mediterranean breezes allow the grapes to ripen slowly and retain their aromatic finesse. Light on its feet yet structured, it opens with aromas of wild strawberry, sour cherry, and crushed herbs, underpinned by smoky minerality and a touch of spice. The palate is elegant and earthy, with fine tannins and vibrant acidity, reflecting the unique terroir of Etna’s lava-rich soils.
