Duorum Altitude Red
The name Duorum, which is Latin for “from two,” captures the spirit of this famed Portuguese winery, which was founded in 2007 by João Portugal Ramos and José Soares Franco, two of Portugal’s most renowned oenologists. Longtime friends and admirers of each other’s work, they sought to pool their combined 60 years of winemaking experience and create a wine together. Douro Superior is a dry region with very hot summers that provides ideal conditions for the ripeness of grapes, resulting in full bodied wines. These specific vineyards are located at a relatively high-altitude (400-500m) with a northern exposure to avoid excess heat. This is a red blend of indigenous Portuguese varieties 40% Touriga Franca, 40% Touriga Nacional, 20% Tinta Roriz. Ruby red color with hints of violet. Intense aroma, dominated by ripe fruit such as plum, blackberry, raspberry and strawberry, and by the floral aromas of violet. A full-bodied, fresh wine, with balanced acidity well integrated in its body and volume.
