Mary Taylor Côtes de Gascogne White Blend
When founding partner Mary Taylor first fell in love with wine in the early 1990’s, it was the European classics that truly spoke to her and stole her heart. As a young professional selling French and Italian wine, first in the New York wine auctions and then as a merchant, she quickly learned to appreciate wine in the “Old World” way— not as a luxury good reserved for special occasions, but a living agricultural product that belongs to everyday life. The Gessler family settled in Gascony (SW France) after immigrating from Switzerland in 1928. Now in their fourth generation of winemakers, a tiny farm has become a robust family business. The domaine is settled deep in the Bas-Armagnac, where the soil is a mix of red clay and sand. A blend of 50% Colombard, 20% Ugni Blanc, 20% Gros Manseng, and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. On the nose, fresh cut flowers and lush, tart lemons. Bright and crisp on the palate with notes of grapefruit, lemon, and tropical fruit.
