Winemaking in the Benanti family can be traced back to the late 1800s in Viagrande. This deep-rooted passion for wine is what led Giuseppe Benanti to establish the namesake winery in 1988. Located on Mount Etna, “an island within the island” of Sicily, the Benanti family produces wines using 100% native grapes – Carricante, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. A dynamic wine, Benanti Etna Rosso is crafted from a select blend of grapes harvested from vineyards located on the northern, south-eastern, and south-western slopes of Mount Etna. These diverse vineyard sites benefit from the region's volcanic soils and varying altitudes, which impart complexity and depth to the wine. This is a blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. This pale ruby wine offers an ethereal and intense nose, with hints of red fruit. On the palate, it is balanced, dry, and medium-bodied, displaying mineral notes and a pleasant acidity. Saline touches enhance the red fruit aromas, and the finish is persistent.
