Isabel Ferrando Cotes du Rhone Beatus Ille 2023
Isabel Ferrando has been making wine in the Southern Rhône since 2003 when she purchased the property. Beatus Ille is mostly Grenache blended with about 15% Cinsault from a parcel named, La Lionne, in the Sorgues district, just at the southern border of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and another parcel. It’s blended with a bit of Syrah from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It’s 100% destemmed and fermented and aged in cement tanks. On the nose are notes of red and black raspberries, fruitcake, pepper, a superb base of soil tones, hickory smoke and a gentle note of garrigue. On the palate the wine is deep, complex and full-bodied, with an excellent core of fruit, suave tannins and impressive length and complexity on the long and impeccably balanced finish.
