Aveleda Fonte Vinho Verde Rosé
Aveleda is one of the founding names of Vinho Verde, the cool, Atlantic-influenced region of northwest Portugal known for light, high-acid, low-alcohol wines. The story begins in 1870 at Quinta da Aveleda in Penafiel, where Manoel Pedro Guedes produced one of the region's first estate wines and soon earned international recognition with medals in Berlin and Paris. The property has belonged to the Guedes family for generations, and the company remains fully family-owned today, still farming with a strong respect for the gardens and biodiversity that surround the estate. This rosé draws on native red grapes, most recently a blend built around Touriga Nacional with Espadeiro and Amaral, grown on granite and sand soils. It is made in a pale, delicate style that nods to Provence in color while staying true to its Vinho Verde roots. The nose is crisp and floral, marked by subtle red berry fruit and a distinct minerality that runs beneath the surface. On the palate it is light and elegant, with a velvet-smooth texture and a freshness that keeps everything bright and easy. At around 10.5 percent alcohol, it is refreshment first, an unforced, everyday expression of the region.
