Domaine Skouras Zoe Rose

Domaine Skouras was established in 1986 by George Skouras, a Burgundy trained winemaker who helped define contemporary winemaking in the region. This dry rosé blends roughly 70% Agiorgitiko from Corinthia at around 650 meters with 30% Moschofilero from the Mantinia plateau at around 730 meters. The two grape blend is the whole story here. Agiorgitiko supplies the red cherry and raspberry fruit and a touch of body, while Moschofilero, an unusual pink-skinned aromatic grape found in few other places, adds floral, rose-petal lift. Both parcels sit high in the Peloponnesian interior, and that altitude preserves the wine’s natural acidity and aromatic intensity. The winemaking is deliberately fresh, brief skin contact, cool stainless steel fermentation, no malolactic, and a short rest on fine lees. Vibrant and clear on the nose, with aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, hints of flowers, and rose petal notes.
