La Bete Noire Malbec

$19.00

Located in the southwest of France, the wines from Cahors have been famous in Europe since the Roman Empire. The Château Haute-Théron was built after the French Revolution in 1789, in the hills overlooking the Lot Valley. The seventy-four acres of vineyards, planted entirely to Malbec (Cot), have a southern exposure with limestone soils. 100% Malbec (which is significant because the vast majority of Cahors is cut with Merlot or Tannat). A powerful French "country" red from thirty-year-old vines grown in chalk-rich clay soils on a limestone substrate in the Lot Valley in Cahors, the ancestral home of the Malbec grape. Nicely full and tarry with mint highlights, terrific juiciness and no oak in sight.
