Landhaus Mayer Zweigelt

$23.00

Landhaus Mayer is the value range of Vienna’s historic Mayer am Pfarrplatz, a négociant-style label through which the estate’s team turns well-chosen Burgenland fruit into honest, well-priced, varietally faithful wine. Zweigelt, a 1922 crossing of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, is Austria’s most-planted red, noted for being juicy, supple, and approachable by nature. This bottling plays exactly to that: destemmed, temperature-controlled fermentation and a rest in large wood, yielding a medium to full bodied red with a fragrant nose of wild berries and juicy cherry, velvety tannins, and a lively, gently spicy finish. Uncomplicated in the best sense, an everyday Austrian red.
