Mesa Primo Scuro Cannonau
Cantina Mesa sits in the Sulcis-Iglesiente, the southwestern tip of Sardinia, where vineyards run along the sandy coastal belt near Porto Pino, some on vines over a hundred years old. Cannonau is Sardinia’s version of Grenache, likely carried over from Spanish rule centuries ago, and here it shows moderate ruby color with a deceptive amount of body, wild red berries and violets on the nose, round acidity, and supple tannin that carries through to a warm, lingering finish. It is Sardinia’s answer to the Mediterranean’s long love affair with Grenache
