Unico Zelo Truffle Hound Red


Brendan and Laura Carter started Unico Zelo with the idea of making honest Australian wines in a globally relevant way. They dry-farm their vineyards in a harsh environment, in an attempt to make quality wines that buck the trend of mass produced Australian wines. The couple has studied viticulture and agriculture, and worked in wineries in Australia, France, and Italy. They are making wines made from such Italian grapes as Nebbiolo, Nero d’Avola, Barbera, Dolcetto, Zibibbo and Fiano. Their wines are exciting, vibrant and oh so drinkable. 

Unico Zelo’s ‘Truffle Hound” is their early-released, approachable and jovial expression of Barbera and Nebbiolo. It's made to be highly aromatic, with herbal savoriness and have an amaro-like refreshment. It has notes of over bright plum fruit. On the palate it also has notes of smoke, liquorice and cardamom spice. This wine is lively on the palate with a bright mouthwatering acidity that gets you ready for the next bite!
