Yalumba Y Series Pinot Noir 2024
Yalumba is Australia’s oldest family winery, founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith in Angaston, in the Barossa, and still run by his Hill-Smith descendants. The Y Series is their bright, approachable range, and the Pinot is drawn from cooler pockets across South Australia, much of it from the warm, sandy red-dirt river country of the Murray Valley. The wine is wild-fermented in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh and unadorned. The shift from the two Europeans is immediate: sunnier, juicier red fruit, strawberry and rhubarb lifted by a note of sage, light-bodied and round, with soft, gentle tannins.
